He couldn’t sleep, no matter how hard he tried. Giving up, he stood and went to the restroom. Squinting as he turned on the bright, jarring light. He tried not to look, but he couldn’t help it. He looked at himself in the mirror, two eyes different but connected. One brown and eternally sad, staring out from below his swooping brown hair. Trapped between scars and his regular face, the eye looked hopelessly back at him.
He turned his focus onto the other.
Cold. Robotic. Red. Sunk into his metal face and stared back at him unfeelingly. An eternal reminder that he is not fully human anymore. He’s broken. Half a man.
He swung his metal hand at the mirror, shattering the monster. But as the glass crumbled, he saw it all again.
The Explosion, His friend going up in flames, the hospital bed he woke up in two months later, and the mirror, the cursed mirror, showed what his invention had done to him.
He sighed and stared at his hands, flesh on one, metal on the other, different but connected. God saved him from death, and He had a plan.
Just trust Him.
