The Power of a Story
Some people say that money makes the world go round, others say love.
However, I choose to believe that it’s stories that do it. If you truly think about it, It’s astounding that sounds uttered from a person’s mouth or ink spread across a piece of paper can hold us down better than any lock and key, yet take us further than any worldly transportation we have.
In an instant, we are sent across worlds, meet people and creatures we could only dream of, laugh when they laugh, and cry when they cry. Watching them grow over a period of time, years for them, but mere hours for us. These magic portals are hidden away in ink and paper and words that can take us through every emotion we have and wrap it up in a neat little cover with an eye-catching hook for a title. Every book on every shelf, portals to fantastic worlds beyond our wildest imaginations.
Yet, despite all of these powers, I believe the best part about stories is that anybody can write one from the smallest child who can barely string words together to the greatest scientist who can explain the world down to an atom. They can all grip this power and do anything they want with it.
I believe that a person who can master words can master themselves, if not the entire world. Now, I don’t consider myself a master of words, but I, like so many others, have a story to tell. I’m not looking to master the world, just to offer a glimpse into one of mine. To have a chance to take you, reader, to another place, another time, another world, even if just for a moment or two. So come, my friend, turn the page and follow me.
Let’s tell a story.
