“Some people say that money makes the world go round, others say love. However, I choose to believe that it’s stories that do it.”
Two years ago, on March 23, 2020, William Fall introduced himself to the world with these words. A nervous STEM student on a free website plan, Williamfallwritings.wordpress.com (Rolls right off the tongue), who wanted to put his writing out there for the world to see, not expecting much would come as a result of it. Two years, 22 followers, and 36 (still publicly available) posts later, here I am, a nervous history/writing major on Willfallwritings.com trying to make this website and the work he puts on it the best it can possibly be.
I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do in celebration. I briefly considered pushing Guardians Book 2 back to today before realizing that would be unfair to you all. Then I considered launching a new project before realizing that that would be putting too much on my plate. And so, for this year at least, I settled for a birthday post thanking you all for being here and giving a (very brief) update on things.
I covered a lot of this on the “Burning the Book” update post, so I’ll just say the mission to improve the website is well underway. Guardians Book 2: Ch 1 is out with brand new artwork custom-made by an incredibly talented freelance artist I found. I started fiddling with more things under that slightly intimidating “site settings” tab (and also began doing bi-weekly backups in case I cut the wrong wire and the site explodes). Finally, I’ve gone through most of my short stories and edited them. Are they perfect? Most likely not, but I’ve cleared out most of the glaring issues.
Thank you all again for being here and reading my stuff. When I started this site two years ago, I never expected to gain an actual following, much less to the extent that I have. I have gotten views from India, China, Russia, and other places, which is much further than the 10-mile radius I had expected. I’m insanely grateful that you all are here and am thrilled to have you.
I don’t want to drag this out, so I’ll end it here.
Happy Birthday to Willfallwritings.com! It’s been a great two years, here’s to a fantastic future.
Love,
William J Fall
